As the unified communications and branding hub of South Carolina State University, the Office of Strategic Communications & Marketing brings together marketing, public information, media relations, digital communications, and storytelling into one cohesive unit. Our responsibilities include:

How to Use Our Services

Timely submissions help Strategic Communications and Marketing plan, prioritize and produce high-quality content that reflects the university’s standards. To ensure adequate time for writing, editing, photography, design, approvals and scheduling, faculty and staff should submit news items, story ideas and promotional requests at least two weeks before the intended publication or event date. Early notice allows the team to assess newsworthiness, gather necessary information, coordinate interviews and align the message with broader institutional priorities.

Event notifications should also follow this timeline. Units hosting programs, lectures, celebrations or major announcements are encouraged to notify Strategic Communications and Marketing as soon as planning begins and to complete the Service Request Form for all publicity, design, photography, videography, social media and website-update needs. While last-minute requests will be considered when possible, the two-week lead time greatly increases the likelihood of full coverage, accurate promotion and successful coordination across the university’s communication channels.
