Camp Harry E. Daniels officially opened on June 8, 1949. The historic campsite was developed as a permanent site for South Carolina’s Black 4-H youth. Located in Elloree, South Carolina, the camp bears the name of Harry E. Daniels, who served more than 25 years as state supervisor of Negro Agricultural Extension Work for then-South Carolina State College.
From its inception, Camp Daniels provided resource-limited and underserved youth of South Carolina unforgettable educational and recreational experiences designed to empower and inspire them as influential change-makers in their communities.
