Karyney McMillianChampioning Mental Wellness  

Karyney Tierra Shayvonn Monet McMillan is a licensed mental health professional dedicated to improving the emotional well-being of children, adolescents, and families through compassionate, evidence-based care. As a School-Based Mental Health Therapist and Infant Early Childhood Mental Health Coordinator with the Orangeburg Area Mental Health Center, she provides individual, family, and caregiver-focused therapy, conducts comprehensive clinical assessments, develops individualized treatment plans, and collaborates with schools, physicians, caregivers, and community partners to promote positive behavioral, emotional, and developmental outcomes.  

With more than a decade of experience in behavioral health, McMillan has built a career centered on trauma-informed care, early childhood mental health, and community advocacy. Her professional experience includes providing counseling and case management services through Wright Directions Family Services and Intensive Family Services, where she delivered evidence-based interventions to children and families while connecting clients with resources that fostered long-term stability and independence. Beyond her clinical practice, she is the founder and owner of KissedByKary, where she combines entrepreneurship with community service by providing complimentary hairstyles to high-achieving students. She also leads Bible studies, presents mental health workshops for youth and families, organizes food and clothing giveaways, and volunteers within her community.  

Committed to lifelong learning and advancing the field of mental health, McMillan earned a Bachelor of Science in Social Work from South Carolina State University and a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Webster University. She is currently pursuing a Doctor of Psychology (PsyD) in Clinical Psychology while continuing to advocate for underserved children and families through clinical care, education, and community engagement.
