Danielle Sorraya Berry is an educator, military officer, and advocate for student success whose career reflects a passion for teaching, leadership, and community engagement. She serves as a High School English Teacher at the High School for Health Professions, where she teaches Creative Writing and English I, implements AVID instructional strategies, tutors students, and participates in ongoing professional development to enhance student achievement. She also serves in the United States Air Force Reserves as a Force Support Officer, where she oversees military personnel operations, supports organizational effectiveness, and was commissioned as a Force Support Officer in December 2024. Her military service has been recognized with the 2021 3rd Quarter Airman of the Quarter Award and the Air Force Achievement Medal in 2022.
Berry's commitment to education extends well beyond the classroom. She previously served as a Reading Interventionist, Athletic Advisor, English Tutor, Student Success Coach, and communications intern with The Education Trust, where she created digital content and newsletters reaching thousands of readers. She also completed a Harvard Alumni for Black Advancement internship focused on professional development and community engagement. Dedicated to expanding opportunities for young people, Berry founded and directed the Orangeburg County Poet Laureate Competition, mentors students as the High School for Health Professions Debate Team Advisor, and volunteers with the Orangeburg County Library to promote literacy and student engagement.
A published writer, she authored an article for The Education Trust examining how changing racist school building names and mascots affects school climate. A proud graduate of South Carolina State University and member of both Kappa Delta Pi Education Honor Society and Sigma Tau Delta English Honor Society, Berry continues to inspire students through excellence in education, service, and leadership.
